It was so exciting to arrive in Rio — the city everyone talks about as being the most wonderful party place. I was lucky enough to be there for Carnival, one of the biggest festivals in the world. The best part of Carnival is the samba schools parade at the Sambadrome. The Sambadrome is a huge building that holds 50,000 people. The parade is a contest between fourteen different samba schools, each with its own songs, traditions, and crazy fans! The parade began at 9 p.m. and didn’t finish until 6 a.m.! Each samba school had THOUSANDS of people, all dressed in the most fantastic, beautiful costumes and masks. All around me, I saw fans dancing and cheering. The beat of the samba made me dance, too! We watched the parade until about 3 a.m., when I felt really tired and started falling asleep. But it was a wonderful experience. I definitely recommend the Rio Carnival!
