Person A: There are many disputes regarding human cloning. And we are well aware of the widespread revulsion about cloning human beings. Yet it seems clear that some of these concerns, at least, are based on false beliefs about genetic influence and the nature of the individuals that would be produced through cloning. Do genes determine everything about us, and are environmental factors or the random events in human development insignificant? No! This genetic determinism is false. Any conclusions a child might draw from observing the person from whom he was cloned would be uncertain at best. Finally, even if cloning could be the cause of particular problems, that would not be enough to show that it is wrong to create clones. Therefore, I disagree with those who insist genetic determinism.
