korea successfully launched its first space rocket, called “naro,” making the entire nation overwhelmed with excitement!

on january 30th, naro blasted off from the naro space center in goheung county, south jeolla, at 4 p.m.

nine minutes after its liftoff, it put a satellite into its target orbit.
audiences on the launch pad waved national flags and shouted as they watched the successful liftoff.

also, the first communication with the satellite which naro sent into orbit was successfully made as well.

according to the country’s satellite technology research center contact was made at 3:27:12 a.m.

in truth, this success comes after two failed attempts.

the first attempt in august 2009 failed because the rocket was unable to separate from the satellite.

the second attempt was unsuccessful due to the explosion of the rocket after liftoff.

kim seung-jo, president of kari, stated earlier that the failures of the prior two naro launches were a crucial experience in the further development of the korean space program.

as korea succeeded in launching the space rocket, it will become a member of the “space club.” korea will join the club as the 11th country. let’s celebrate korea for opening an era of space science!
