a) significantsurface The surface of the parts which isplated or to be plated and for which the coating is essential for performanceand appearance. b) localthickness The average of measurements carried out specified times on thereference area.c) minimumlocal thickness The minimum value of local thicknesseswhich have been confirmed on the significant surface of the part.

Informative reference:When there is no specification on the significant surface, the surface area onwhich a ball of 20 mm in diameter does not touch shall not be regarded as thesignificant surface. In the case of the product whose significant surface isless than 100 ㎟, the minimum thickness shall be the lowest value ofthe average thicknesses, and for the product having 100 ㎟ or larger significant surface, the minimum thickness be the lowestvalue of local thickness.
