these countries are now asked by industrialized countries to sell their quotas in the form of carbon credits.

with the signing of the kyoto protocol in 1997, a number of industrialized nations agreed to reduce their greenhouse emissions by 5.2 percent. various steps have been taken by these countries since then, byt few have proved successful. now they are turning to a different approach – buying emission quotas. non-industrialize nations suffering from low economic growth have scarcely touched their emission quotas. but it is clear that this method isn’t an honest attempt to reduce global warming. it’s simply a way of shifting the production of pollution from one country to another.

i first visited dr.wilson in 2008, having heard much about her from my friends. she started by explaining the physical and mental benefits of meditation therapy. her voice was extremely soothing, both calm and deep. next, i lay down on the table and was surprised by the warmth i could feel in dr.wilson’s hands. she said i should have made an appointment a month in advance to get the therapy. i could feel all of my tension disapearing like a cloud of smoke in the wind. for the first time in months, my body was completely free of pain.

why is that birds can sit on wires carrying thousands of volts of electricity without getting an electric shock? living things , like birds and people, can only get shocked by touching two different wires, or by touching one wire while also being contact with the ground. in each of these situations, the electricity has a way in and out and thus flows through the body, giving it a dangerous shock. so, a bird sitting on an electric wire is perfectly safe unless it makes the mistake of touching another wire at the same time

i’ll never forget the night that the three of us arrived in barcelona. it was great fut to sit outside at our friend’s sidewalk cafe, watching the local people walking to and fro in the warm night air. i remember thinking that spanish people never seemed to go to bed at all. late as it was, all the colorful little restaurants and cafes around us were still open, with customers drinking coffee and chatting merrily at the small tables outside. the sound of a guitar strumming softly in the distance mingled with the constant babble of voices and laughter.

recently, 13-year-old daniel won first place in a british tv quiz show, beating a university professor in a math challenge. the youngest competitor ever to become the champion, he broke the record for the fastest calculation yet. he says his success is thanks to his parents, who taught him mathematics at home from a very young age. while daniel enjoys studying by himself at home, he prefers taking classes at school because he likes being with his friends. in fact, it was daniel’s friends who encouraged him to enter the quiz show now, knowing that he could do calculations that most adults would find impossible. daniel’s biggest challenge now is deciding what to do with his amazing talent.

back in 1868, an annoying problem was facing users of the typewriter. typists were becoming so fast at typing the keys would often get stuck unable to keep up with their speed. an inventor named lathan sholes realized that he could solve this problem by arranging typewriter keys in an unfamiliar order. specifically, he rearranged the keys with the commoner letters arranged on the left side, most typists being right-handed. his solution, the qwetry keyboard, was so successful at slowing down typists that it was universally adopted. even now, when we use computers instead of typewriters and the problem of key-sticking is a thing of the past, sholes’ key arrangement remains.

you should never hesitate to let the important people in your life know how much they mean to you. if you wait for the perfect opportunity to tell them, you may find that you’ve missed your chance. whether it’s a friend, a family member or role model, don’t wait for a reason to show a former teacher expressing what a big difference he or she made in your life. if you have kids, send them text message letting them know how special they are. do this on a regular basis, and you’ll bring joy and satisfaction not only to yourself, bit to lives of others.

2. it doesn’t require words to communicate a perception of superiority over someone else. body language can have exact same effect. this is done by putting yourself in a physically higher position than the other person. no matter what you’re saying, that person will get the sense that he or she is being talked down to. for this reason, it is important to pay close attention to physical poisitioning when you deal with employees. neither stand while they are made to sit, nor give them a chair that is lower than yours. you may mean nothing by it, but you risk communicating the wrong message that you consider yourself better them

by simply being mindful of the world around us, we can have the same effect on our own lives as the sun has a flower.
it may not seek like the sun is doing much, but it has the power to transform things. at night, some flowers close up into tight little balls but when the sun touches them, they automatically open back up. similarly, if practices continuously, mindfulness can also be effective on us. when we get upset, anger makes us clench up like a flower in the darkness. but by understanding the nature of our anger and why we feel it, we can release ourselves from its grip
①stimulus that makes us grow
②the amazing mystery of nature
③mindfulness: shining light on anger
④be careful: anger can harm your body
⑤be mindful to take care of the environment

todd watched in dismay as the puck rolled away from him. he desperately hoped it wouldn’t go into the corner. “get it!” his teammate matt shouted from behind. todd skated as fast as he could towards the puck. he stretched out his stick, but another stick immediately struck his shins. at first, he didn’t know whether it belonged to one of his teammates or not. looking back, he saw the opposing team’s toughest player, big george. suddenly todd felt something hit him across his shoulders. he felt a wave of pain, then fell down. in a daze, he saw big george’s mean smile. one of todd’s teammates pounded on the glass from behind the bench. “that’s a penalty!” he yelled. but the referee did not blow his whistle.

it was winter, the forest was slipping into darkness, and the man no longer knew where he was. he had lost his map, then he lost his way. overwhelmed by gloom as well as completely pletely exhausted, he collapsed onto the cold hard ground. now he was convinced that all hope was gone. as he laid his head on the forest floor, however, he could hear a distant thumping. there was no doubt as to what it was: he was clearly neas a mill. he struggled to his feet and staggered to his feet distant voices and could smell the smoke of a fire.

the bluespotted boxfish looks spectacular in an aquarium. however, this species is not well suited for one unless you are willing to devote your entire tank to it. that’s because when a bluespotted boxfish gets stressed, it releases a deadly poision which can quickly kill an entire tank of fish. also, since it is not a picky eater,it tends to regard everything in the tank, such as coral, algae, and all kinds of fish food as being part of its personal diet. nonetheless, the beauty of this fish does merit a species tank. the male had bright blue spots on its sides, while the female has white spots. remember to keep either a singlefish or a male-female pair, just don’t try to keep two males together since males kept together can become aggressive.
